[edit] History on SMW Central
When Reading (or as he was then known as, Meister Waluigi), first registered at SMW Central, he already had experience with SMW hacking; he had made a few previous hacks after discovering SMW hacking, but they weren't worth publishing and were never finished. He decided to leave hacking, but was attracted to it; a few months after deciding to leave, he realized he could make a great hack if he tried, and started the hack that would eventually become Super Mario Infinity: Mystery of the Magic Wand.
He never intended to release his ROM hacks; the only reason he joined SMW Central was to ask for help about a minor bug concerning the title screen, and since he didn't intend to stay long, he chose the random name Meister Waluigi (he had already chosen the name Reading for his eventual website). But once he was in, he was in to stay. He decided to release SMI, and announced it on the forums slightly before it was completed. However, just before the time he planned to release it, he began editing the credits, and as it turned out, the hack somehow suffered from a strange glitch in which editing the credits would result in the game freezing whenever Mario collected a Fire Flower or Cape Feather. He didn't have a recent backup at the time, so he stated that he couldn't release the hack. But, desperate, he searched his thankfully not-cleared-out recycle bin for any kind of backup. He found one that was relatively recent, so he fixed it up a bit and submitted it. However, as he would later discover, this backup was riddled with glitches.
He began looking through the hack, and with the help of a few forum members, began removing the bugs. The first person to complete the hack was Tatrion. Since he figured he was done with SMW Central, and since he actually doesn't particuarily like ROM hacking, he decided to leave in mid-August of 2006. During the making of SMI, he intended to make a sequel, but now he wasn't sure if he wanted to publish it, even though SMI ended on a cliffhanger.
He remained in this logged-out status until the turn of the year 2007. He had found a patch that reduced the effects of slowdown caused by inserted blocks with BlockTool, and realized it could improve the hack. He announced this so-called "Perfect Version" of SMI along with SMI2. This time, he hired Tatrion to beta-test it, something he didn't do the first time. After the testing was complete, he released the Perfect Version.
As of August 25, 2007, Reading has finished and released Super Mario Infinity 2. He once had a Progress Meter in the signature of his posts which indicated how close he was to completing the hack. However, the format of his current layout would cause the Progress Meter to take up a lot of unnecessary space, so he has moved it to his profile.
As stated earlier, Reading doesn't like ROM hacking, but he does recognize how it can help people in creating their own games. Earlier, he was considering leaving SMW Central for good once he finished SMI2, but now he has decided to stay and give advice. He was not considering making another hack very strongly, but since three people have mentioned to him that a hack starring himself would be a good idea, he has decided to make such a hack.
