Super Mario Bros. 3, commonly abbreviated SMB3, is the third game in the Super Mario Bros. series for the NES. Being the third in the series, it featured many different mechanics that are still used in traditional Mario platformers today, including the physics for the note blocks, water, and jumping.

Mario and Luigi are on a mission to save all seven kings in each world, who have been transformed. They both must get the magic wand from each koopaling to turn the kings back to their normal form. However, once the Mario brothers save the 7th king, they learn that Bowser has kidnapped Peach again, and the mission about saving the kings was just a diversion. So they set off to world 8 to defeat him once and for all.
