Thwimp
From SMWiki
A Thwimp is a stony enemy from Super Mario World
[edit] General Information
A Thwimp looks like a much smaller version of a Thwomp. (Their names appear to be a put on "Thwomp" and "wimp") It is a cube of grey stone covered in blunt spikes. It has a face in front with squinty eyes and a frowning mouth. Thwimps jump forward in a high arc, pause, then jump back to the place they started from. It's fairly easy to run under them in the open, but they're quite difficult to avoid under a low ceiling.
Thwimps are invincible to most of Mario's attacks. They cannot be stomped, but a spin jump will allow Mario to bounce safely off of them. Only stars and occasionally shells can defeat them. (The shell interaction is not coded properly and they will often fly through the Thwimps harmlessly)
[edit] Hacking Information
Thwimps are sprite 27. They are only useable with the castle sprite set. (GFX4=03) They use palette 09. The place they are set on the map is their "home" position to which they will return after jumping forward. Also note that if you have a Thwimp jumping up to a higher ledge or lower ledge, you can change it's jumping pattern, usually forcing it to not return to it's home position immediately.
