Turn Block
From SMWiki
The Turn Block is a ? Block without the question mark. If Mario hits it from under, it rotates for a set number of seconds until turning solid again. Mario can pass though effortlessly while in this state. If Mario spin jumps on top of it, it will shatter, leaving no trace behind. The only time Mario cannot break the Turn Block is If it contains an item.[edit] Glitches
If an item is left in the range of the Turn Block while in motion, the block will duplicate once it stops, leaving another Turn Block above itself. This can be done easily in Chocolate Island 5 if executed properly.
If a large group are placed together, Caped Mario can spin jump down them, and if holding left or right, Mario can be sent straight down through the turn blocks due to the feature in Super Mario World that causes a "big" form of Mario to slide to the left when in a 1 tile vertical space.
