Tutorial:Creating IPS patches
From SMWiki
When a hack or demo is complete, often users will like to submit it to SMW Central, so that others can try out the hack.
To submit a hack, the user must download an application called LIPS, or they can use another IPS patching utility. LIPS can be downloaded from FuSoYa's website, or from Super Mario World Central.
To create the IPS patch, open LIPS and choose "Create Patch." On the window, select an unmodified SMW ROM. Next, select the ROM that was modified to create the hack or demo. Lastly, choose where the patch should be saved along with it's title.
Be sure that the patch is inserted into a compressed (zipped) folder. A readme containing basic information is often put in the folder along with the hack, but it is not necessary.
Once the patch is created and put into a compressed folder, go to SMW Central and select either "Hacks" or "Featured Hacks." On the top, there should be a link stating, "Submit Hack." Press this and, under "Hack," choose your compressed folder from the drop-down menu. Next, insert the screenshots. They must be PNG's, and a screenshot tutorial can be found elsewhere. Then, give the hack a description, telling a little about the hack itself. The author name should be filled out for you if you are logged in. Otherwise, find it in the URL of your User ID. Length should be filled out, with the number of exits or levels in the hack. Lastly, be sure to check off the last section if the hack is a demo. Hit Submit.
The hack will then be under the list of hacks to be moderated. If it was not inserted correctly or is too glitchy, it may not get submitted. If the hack is good enough, it will go to the main list of hacks. Users can then post reviews of the hack.
