Tutorial:How to Make Custom Bosses

Many people, usually the most inexperienced, often ask this question. There is no one way to answer this.

[edit] The Sprite Tool Way

1. Download Sprite Tool (download here) from the Tools Section of SMW Central — that is, if you don't already have it.
   • WARNING! This isn't your average point and click program.
   • Read the ReadMe for info on how to use the software.
   • If you are stumped by the ReadMe, post your questions on the SMW Central forums.
2. Insert some boss-like sprites, like the Birdo with an egg that you can ride on.
3. Insert a Level Ender. This will activate the goal when your boss(es) are killed.
4. Insert these sprites into an ordinary level (don't use the boss level mode) with Lunar Magic. (Details in Sprite Tool ReadMe.)

If you want to make your own custom bosses, you need to use ASM.
