[edit] General Information

One of Joshua's fondest memories of his younger years was playing on his Super Nintendo Entertain System (may it rest in peace), and among his favorite series at the time were the Mario side scrollers: Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario World. And during this time, he would sometimes wish he could grow up to be a video game programmer where he hoped to be able to design 2D Mario platformers, and from time to time he'd pace around thinking up levels and overworlds and plots for ones heavily based off of Super Mario World.

Of course, he figured it was a crazy dream. Even if he somehow made video gaming his career choice (which wasn't very likely), he figured by the time he was old enough the simple 2D side scrolling and SNES graphics he enjoyed so much would be long gone. Plus there's the whole "Nintendo is Japanese, not American" aspect to deal with. So he figured his Mario game would be forever trapped in his imagination, never to be played.

Imagine his surprise when several years later he discovered that, through the miracle of the Internet and emulation, he really could begin designing and playing his own Mario side scroller based off of Super Mario World. So while his current Super Mario World hack isn't much like the specific game he pretended to make in his imagination, it's still the fulfillment of a childhood dream.

Melodramatic for a bunch of childish video games, isn't it?
